Chris is a founder member of indie pop/rock band Belle and Sebastian, adding here both keyboards and composition skills, alongside renowned harp player Gillian whose collaborations with folk-pop State Broadcasters have received critical acclaim. Veera introduces her blend of traditional and experimental kantele textures alongside atmospheric vocals, complemented by the Iceland-infused cello playing of Montreal's Tyr Jami.  The main score is composed and arranged by Seattle-born, settled-in-Scotland, Tyler Lewis.

Marcail sees the Half Way Rock as nothing more than a resting place on the Scottish coast until the sounds of the waves, wind and rain one day appear to her as voices, calls for help, final words long lost among the depths.

But why her, why now?

An answer comes only when she finds herself precariously perched on the rock's mirror-image on the other side of the North Sea, the Kjeragbolten, and suddenly the voices make sense.

Marcail is given mesmerising presence by one of film, tv, radio and theatre's most accomplished performers Sheila Reid, whose range encompasses every kind of character from Benidorm's Madge to Martin Guerre's Celestine, and the exciting and captivating talent of Kiran Sonia Sawar recently seen in Channel 4's series Truelove.

With a stellar supporting cast including French-Tunisian Amina Ben Ismail, fresh from her central role in Netflix's Under a Dark Sun and the Oscar-nominated film Take My Breath, and Polish-Austrian-Canadian Ewa Kasp, well known to European tv audiences through her characters in a number of popular long-running drama series.

Alongside Norway's Aleksander Varadian, Finland's Veera Lummi, Scotland's Cameron Mowat and Austria's Mara Marxt the tale is sensitively and intimately woven by Helen Jessica Liggat.

The development of Rock Scree Drownt has been a long process, beginning in 2018 with the support of Lesley Anne Rose and Aberdeen Performing Arts. Fond memories linger of the early Work In Progress

performance with Pauline Knowles on stage, and Peter Kelly on tape: two brilliant actors and the warmest of collaborators no longer with us. Their inspiration is woven through the final production.
